Roll #2 | Portra 400
These photos were taken in 2024 from late September to early August.
I used this roll to test shots with a used film camera I had bought from a former film photography student. From simple framing decisions to deliberate adjustments to exposure settings, I was curious to see what would happen if I did this versus that. Coming off of a shot testing session with a broken camera, this session bolstered my intrigue in film.
There truly is a feeling of timelessness with these photos, and I think it has everything to do with how film registers light. In the age of digital media, exposures are encoded, and every pixel is processor-limited. On a single frame of film, where exposures are accumulated, every grain is light-sensitive. Digital cameras calculate moments; film cameras capture them.
